Aerial & Eye Level
Photomontage CGIs
We blend street level and aerial photography with precise CGI to create photomontages that show your proposed development in its real world context. Built from your drawings and site information, each montage is carefully aligned and colour graded so the architecture sits correctly in scale, perspective and lighting. The result is planning and marketing ready imagery for web, social media, sales suite boards and on site hoardings.
Typical FAQs
Frequently asked questions about aerial and regular eye level photomontage CGIs
What is a CGI photomontage?
A CGI photomontage is a real photograph with the proposed development seamlessly composited into it. We match perspective, scale, lighting, colour, and atmospheric depth so the CGI sits naturally in the scene. Photomontages are used for new build property marketing and can also support planning visuals when created from the correct camera and survey information.
What other terms are used for CGI photomontages?
CGI photomontage work is often referred to using different terms, and you may see these used interchangeably depending on whether the image is for marketing or planning. Common terminology includes architectural photomontage, CGI composite, photo composite, CGI overlay or CGI superimposed image. Eye level photomontages are sometimes described as streetscene photomontages, while aerial versions are often called drone photomontages or aerial CGI composites.
What do you need from us to create an eye level photomontage?
For an eye level photomontage we typically need the site address, the proposed viewpoint location, the original photo (ideally high resolution), and any camera information available (lens, focal length, height). If you do not have a suitable photo, we can provide the photography and advise on the best angles to capture for marketing impact.
What do you need from us to create an aerial or drone photomontage CGI?
For aerial photomontages we ideally need the original drone photo at full resolution, plus the approximate drone height, angle, and location. The more accurate the capture information, the more accurate the composite.
Can you provide the photography for our photomontage CGIs?
Yes. MASS Visual can provide the photography for both eye level photomontages and aerial (drone) photomontages. We’ll first confirm what you’re trying to show (key frontages, main arrival views, best selling angles, or wider context), then we’ll capture and forward you a hand picked selection of the strongest viewpoints to choose from before we proceed with the CGI photomontage work.
Can you retouch the photo to improve the final photomontage?
Yes. We can retouch and enhance the base photography for both eye level and aerial photomontages, such as removing distractions, improving skies, balancing exposure, correcting colour, and refining foreground detail so the CGI blend looks natural and high end.
What makes a CGI photomontage look realistic and believable?
A realistic CGI photomontage comes down to accurate camera matching and disciplined compositing. We focus on getting the scale and perspective correct first, then matching lighting direction, shadow behaviour, reflections, colour grade, and atmospheric depth so the CGI sits naturally within the photograph. We also pay attention to contact points like ground lines, vegetation edges, and foreground overlap.
What’s the difference between an eye level photomontage and an aerial photomontage?
An eye level photomontage shows the development from a street or pedestrian viewpoint, which is ideal for showcasing frontage, streetscene impact, and buyer experience. An aerial photomontage uses a drone or elevated viewpoint to show site layout, context, access, and how the development sits within the wider area.
